What is the weather like at Bucklands?
Our summer months extend from October until April. During these months day temperatures can vary from cool overnight to mid-twenties and could range to 40 degrees on a hot day! We fall in a summer rainfall area so we experience summer rainfall and summer storms.
Our winter months fall over May until Late August/ September. Evenings are cool, often times dropping below 10 degrees celcuis and day temperatures can range from mid-teens to warm 20’s.
What clothing should I pack for my safari at Bucklands?
Depending on the month you wish to arrive, pack according to the season, also, add some summer clothes for the winter stays and a few warm layers when booking to stay with us in summer.
Always pack some closed walking shoes for walking about (you may encounter a reptile or two during your visit)
Pack swimming costumes and sunblock for the summer month stays to take advantage of our plunge pool!
What else should I bring?
Bird & mammal books, binoculars, photographic equipment, sun block, insect repellents, hats, books, your own fishing tackle (or you can hire from us) and good walking shoes.
Can I self-drive through the reserve?
Yes, Bucklands is now offering self-drives on the property, vehicles need to be a standard 2x4 to drive the flat areas, or a 4x4 to access the steeper roads towards the river. For safety reasons we do not allow self-drives at night, only during the day.
Is Bucklands a self-catering reserve?
Yes, we offer stays for families at our Bucklands Lodge at an Exclusive Let.
First come first served basis. We can accommodate 4 couples or 2 couples and 2 families at the Lodge at a rate of R2400 for the first 4 adults, while additional adults are charged at R600 per adult on top of the first R2400.
Does Bucklands offer Catered Stays?
Yes we do. We offer “Special Weekends” at Bucklands which includes Bird Weekends, Photographic Weekends, Venison Weekends and Game Capture Weekends. To book for a specific weekend email us at email@example.com to reserve your spot with us.
Does Bucklands cater for families?
Yes, we cater for family stays at Bucklands Lodge. There is a plunge pool and a large lawn for the kids to run around on and play cricket, rugby, badminton etc
Is there a pool at the Bucklands Lodge?
There is a plunge pool at the Lodge. We can cover the pool with a net if kids are not water safe.
Is there WiFi available at the Bucklands Lodge and Luxury Tented Camp?
Yes, both the Lodge and the Luxury Tented Camp have free WiFi for you to check emails, skype etc
How far away is Bucklands from Port Elizabeth, East London and Port Alfred
Bucklands is situated 2 and a half hours drive from Port Elizabeth, 2 hours 45 minutes’ drive from East London and an hour and a half from Port Alfred.
What activities are on offer at Bucklands?
